A school without a magazine is like a man without a voice. Without these indispensable instruments of self expression each labours under a heavy handicap. Just as a man mostly expresses his thoughts and ideas by the use of his voice, so a school most naturally reveals its thoughts and ideas through its magazine.
- The opening paragraph from Mr G W Cook, The Editor of the first edition of The Chronicle, December 1931
The Chronicle is CSGS’s annual magazine, an edition has been published every year since 1931.
The magazine is student-led with only minimal support from staff. The journalism and production standards are incredibly high.
Students interested in the leadership role of editor apply for the position through a formal application process. The editors then make decisions about the focus and editorial direction of their edition, its content and which student articles will be accepted for publication.
Editors are responsible for managing the entire project, including ensuring all articles are ready for the tight deadlines and deciding on the format of the magazine with the help of a professional production company.
